16 November 2018
In late November and early December, preliminary designs for our proposed new eye care, research and education facility will be on display.
This is an exciting step forward for our proposal to relocate all services from Moorfields Eye Hospital, City Road and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology on Bath Street to a new site, bringing together clinical care, research and education expertise in one flexible, fully integrated facility.
What to expect at the exhibition
In June 2018, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) launched a design competition to procure a team to design this proposed new facility. RIBA is leading this process on behalf of the project partners; Moorfields Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Charity and UCL.
In August 2018, five shortlisted teams were selected to produce preliminary designs of what the new facility could look like. These designs will be showcased at the exhibition on Tuesday 27 November and Tuesday 4 December.
You will have an opportunity to view the shortlisted designs and to give your feedback through a short survey.
The feedback gathered at the exhibition events will help inform the evaluation panel, which will make the final decision on the preferred design team. We expect the successful design team will be announced in early 2019.
