We are delighted to have been selected as new members of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), signalling an important step in acknowledging the quality and governance we have developed as part of our grant making programmes.

The AMRC vision is to be the leading voice of the health and medical research charity sector, supporting charities to deliver high-quality research and champion impact for patient and public benefit.  AMRC does this by influencing policy and research, and highlighting the sector’s contribution to patient and public health.

Universities, government and funding bodies use AMRC membership as an indicator of quality research funding, due to the exacting standards required from their members.

There are many benefits to membership with the AMRC, including being part of a collective voice for medical research charities in the UK, the opportunity to connect with other members to share learning and being able to access to a variety of schemes and resources.

Robert Dufton, chief executive of Moorfields Eye Charity said:

This announcement is another significant milestone for the charity, further establishing our place in the sector. This follows on from the success of our recent partnership with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academy, as one of only seven charities selected to offer joint Doctoral Fellowships as part of the charity partner programme.  We look forward to working with our partners to provide even more opportunities to support innovative research, education and care to improve people’s sight.

About the AMRC

The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) has been the national membership organisation for the health and medical research charity sector for the last 30 years, influencing the policy and research environments by harnessing the collective strengths of our members, to demonstrate the sector’s positive impact on health and wellbeing. AMRC has 145 members which include the largest health and medical charities in the UK: the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, and the Wellcome Trust.
